Clif has been an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church since 1975, is a combat veteran of the Gulf War, and is married and living in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dorhauer was elected the 9th General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ at their 30th General Synod in June, 2015. He is a graduate of Eden Theological Seminary, making him the first UCC President educated west of the Mississippi River. His doctoral work was in the field of White Privilege and It’s Affects on the Church.
